Every home is a building block
When we build better homes, we build better communities. Local families partner with Habitat for Humanity to build decent and affordable homes right here in Dubuque and Jackson Counties.
What do we mean by decent and affordable?
-
Decent
Habitat houses are modestly sized. They are large enough for homeowners’ needs, but small enough to keep construction and maintenance costs affordable
-
Affordable
The labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building methods, modest house sizes and no-profit loans make it affordable for low-income families to purchase Habitat houses.

Rosalynn Carter Place
Rosalynn Carter Place is transforming the Mount Pleasant neighborhood by creating new opportunities for affordable homeownership. Thanks to the support of our volunteers, donors, and community partners, we have completed the first three homes, with three local families now enjoying the stability and opportunity that comes with owning a home.
Building on this momentum, we are excited to continue construction this year with two additional homes, providing two more families the chance to achieve affordable homeownership. These homes are part of our long-term vision to create a vibrant neighborhood of up to 14 single-family homes, strengthening the community and expanding access to safe, affordable housing for generations to come.
